Storyline

The three-part documentary play "War is close" was directed by Elena Gremina — founder of Theatre.doc. It combined play "Betrothal" based on the materials of the case of director Oleg Sentsov, the diary of resident of Luhansk and the text "Your voices" by Mark Ravenhill — three views of the war. Play doesn't take sides: "War is near" is about a small man in the middle of a large and destructive war.

This play was first shown in august 2016. By 2020, Oleg Sentsov returned to Ukraine after a hunger strike, there is still a war in Luhansk, and Mark Ravenhill's text has become even more terrible. We publish a video version of Elena Gremina's performance so that residents of any country, any city can see how war, propaganda and political affairs cripple individual people. We take the side of man.
