Based upon official Israeli interrogation manuscripts, the film focuses on the interrogation of Adolf Eichmann, widely known as the Architect of the Holocaust. As head of the Jewish Department within the Nazi SS, Eichmann was held operational responsibility for the extermination of Jews during World War II. After the war, Eichmann escaped to Argentina where he passed himself off as Ricardo Klement. In 1960 Eichmann was captured by Israeli intelligence in Argentina and then smuggled out of the country heavily sedated and disguised as a sick passenger on an airliner. Over the long months of the trial, only one question continued to linger in everyone’s mind, how could this little bureaucrat, this perfect father, a loving son, bring death to millions of people?
