Flashes of Light

A decade ago, it was almost impossible for blind people to regain their eyesight. However, recent scientific advances in bionic implants have made this possible. The film tells the inspiring story of Grigory and Antonina, who received retinal implants and can now enjoy their new bionic vision. Antonina can even read texts written in large letters. Moreover, scientists are building on this success by testing high-resolution visual cortex implants to give artificial sight to monkeys. In the film, dramatic events alternate with scientific conversations about the meaning of vision.
