Igor lives on the streets of a gloomy city. Together with his friends, he regularly drinks vodka, soulfully sings songs, and spends nights in stairwells and basements. Life is generally difficult but long familiar to him.

One day, he manages to get in touch with relatives who bring sad news—his father has passed away.

Gathering his strength, Igor returns home. The prodigal son does not linger in his family's abode and sets off on further travels. This story is complemented by parallel scenes from the lives of street cats and a ginger kitten.
