Is ageing a normal and inevitable process or a disease we need to treat? The international classification of diseases lists old age among clinical symptoms with the code R54. Will humans be able to treat old age in the future? Will it happen in our lifetime?

We already have substances that slow ageing geroprotectors, like metformin, rapamycin, SkQ senolytics, and resveratrol in red wine? Should we wait for human clinical trials of potential geroprotective therapies, or should animal testing suffice? Should we start using geroprotectors now in hope of getting younger? Or is it a pseudoscientific hype that has flooded the popular media and does nothing but dazzle and confuse the audience?
