Les Malheurs d'Alfred

Alfred Dumontier was born under a bad star: at seven, he nearly fell captive to fascists, his father and mother died early, and his girlfriend left him to join a monastery. Tired of misfortunes, Alfred decided to drown himself. Ironically, it happened that on precisely the same bridge from which Alfred jumped into water, on that exact same night and hour, came another equally unfortunate soul—Agatha Bodard, recently abandoned by a famous TV host. If they knew what their chance encounter foretold, perhaps they’d still go to that bridge anyway, to meet each other and never part ways again.
