Anatoly Grebnev is one of the iconic screenwriters in Russian cinema. In 2023, he would have turned a hundred years old. He passed away shortly before reaching eighty.
Among his notable works are Marlen Khutsiev's "July Rain," "Petersburg Secrets"—one of Russia’s first modern television series—and films such as "Success" starring Leonid Filatov, "Prokhindiada" with Alexander Kalyagin, and "Diary of a School Principal" featuring Oleg Borisov. He collaborated with directors Yuliy Raizman and Anatoly Efros, leaving behind an enduring legacy with his “Diary of the Last Screenwriter.”
What makes Grebnev unique is that he entered the film industry only midway through his life—as a mature adult. His youth was filled with hopes and failures, love and loss. The documentary will not only cover Grebnev's cinematic biography but also delve into his earlier life—the one he left behind to pursue filmmaking.
