In the picturesque port of Marseille, an old man named Caesar runs a small bar together with his son Marius. The young man does not want to tie his life to the bar; every day watching ships enter and leave the harbor, he dreams of traveling and discovering new, unexplored countries. One day, a pretty girl named Fanny comes to see the boy; she works at the local market. Fanny is in love with Marius, but the guy always stares at the sea. One day, Honore, a friend of Caesar's, decides to propose to the girl. Marius must choose what matters more to him—travels and distant lands or love.
