Storyline

An incredible journey through the works, places, and all stages of the life of the artist Raphael. The film retraces Raphael's artistic education from Perugia where he became a pupil of Perugino, to Florence where he met Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. The viewers will enter the emblematic places of the Italian Renaissance, such as Palazzo Corsini, while the descendants of the clients who facilitated Raphael's success will open the doors of their private palaces. In Rome, where at the height of his success Raphael created the decorations of the Raphael Rooms on commission of the Pope, the film reveals Raphael's unknown wonders like the church of Sant'Eligio degli Orefici and the façade of Palazzo Spada. The journey goes as far as St. Petersburg, which holds, in its boundless Hermitage Museum, few masterpieces by the artist from Urbino.
