When Artur decided not to stay in Murmansk after his time in the army but instead chose to return to his birth village, it took everyone by surprise. Likewise, when Katya, known to her students as Ekaterina Mikhailovna, returned to this village after an internship in the United States to teach at the school, people doubted it would last. Even Yura, after a decade of struggling with city life, returned to the village and joined the fishing collective farm, others believed he made an irrational choice.
Yet, it turns out that their choice to live in this small village on the White Sea, covered in red sand, with a population of barely sixty people, was a conscious one. All they want is to stay here, where they find happiness in this freedom, vastness, and the joy of doing what they love. Their bond with the land seems to bring favourable outcomes, but perhaps it's merely the way fate unfolds for them.
