The life and tragic death of Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov have always been shrouded in an aura of mystique and mystery.
At the Minusinsk Drama Theater, preparations are underway for the premiere of the play The Left Hand’s Path, based on the eponymous work by Olga Mikhailova, which sheds light on the final moments of the great poet's life.
But backstage, tensions are running high. A prolonged theater renovation, the opening of a new stage, a headstrong director from Sakhalin, and the heavy responsibility of portraying the story of a brilliant poet—all contribute to an intense atmosphere.
And as if that weren’t enough, supernatural forces, seemingly pursuing Lermontov, begin to interfere with the course of events.
Will the theater team manage to keep their composure and bring the play to fruition? And how does the story of one of the greatest poets intertwine with the lives of people today?
The film The Left Hand’s Path is not just about preparing a play; it is a reflection on Lermontov's immortal creativity and the price of art.
